Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi was born on Tuesday, 11th August 1970, at the Effia Nkwanta Hospital, Takoradi. His parents are Pastor Fred Tete and Mrs Gladys Dansoa Obuobi (RTD). He is the first of the two children the Lord gave his parents. He was born when his parents were Ministers of The Church of Pentecost in charge of the Shama District in the Sekondi Area of the Church.
He was educated at Amaniampong Secondary (1982-1987) and Aggrey Memorial Zion Secondary (1988-1990). He furthered his studies at the then Institute of Professional Studies, now UPSA (1991-1994), the University of Cape Coast (1999-2002), Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (2009-2013) and the University of Ghana (2020-2021).
He holds M.A. in Leadership and Governance (2021), an MSc in Business Administration (Finance option) (2013), a Bachelor of Commerce (2002), a GCE Advanced level (1990) and a GCE Ordinary Level (1982-1987). He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana).
Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi was called into the full-time ministry of The Church of Pentecost in 2004 while serving as an Elder at the English Assembly of the Bubiashie District.

Apostle Obuobi was called an Overseer in 2004 and ordained into the pastorate in 2008. He was ordained into the office of Apostle in 2019 and appointed an Area Head in 2021.

After his call into ministry, the General Council of the church assigned him to the then Pentecost University College (PUC) as a Lecturer. He was attached to the Faculty of Business Administration and later became the Head of the Quality Assurance Unit for the University.
He married Mrs. Kokor Obuobi on 21st November 1998. They are blessed with three wonderful children, Michaelis, Hephzibah and Othniel. The passion of the Apostle and Mrs. Obuobi is to see believers firmly established in Christ and on the Word of God
